The following articles are must reads regarding the efforts by foreign multinational companies efforts to gain ownership of U.S. water and utility companies.  In Nevada, Vidler Water and Nevada Land and Resources, wholly owned subsidiaries of PICO Holding Company, are rapidly acquiring water throughout the state.  In the small state of Nevada, they hired eight lobbyists during the last legislative session, arguably competing with the Casino industry in their efforts to influence the process.  The City of Boise's water is owned entirely by a company called United Water Company, a subsidiary of a company called SUEZ headquarted in France.  As you will note in the second expose', there are tremendous downsides to foreign owned water and water companies.  Please contact me if you have any comments or questions.
